July 2015: Cowater mourns the loss of its dear friend and colleague Andrew Livingstone (1952-2015)

Cowater mourns the loss of its dear friend and colleague Andrew Livingstone, who passed away on July 9, 2015.  Andrew’s career in international development spanned more than 30 years.  Since 1998 he has been an integral part and valued member of the Cowater team. He began as a Senior Project Director, then Vice President, and finally as the Director for the large and complex Northern Regions Small Town Water and Sanitation Project (NORST) in Ghana, a project on-going since 2008.   Along with his exceptional expertise in water and sanitation, he also excelled in institutional strengthening, community participation, capacity building, governance, and environmental management.

He was a good friend and mentor to us all.

Ever concerned with the human side of his work and dedicated to each projects’ beneficiaries and Cowater field teams, he went about his work with commitment, a quiet humility and a wonderful sense of humour. The lives he worked for and improved are too numerous to count. He will be greatly missed by friends and colleagues here at Cowater.
