October 2014: Government of Nigeria Selects Cowater to Support External Audit Reforms

Cowater recently signed a contract to work with the Office of the Kogi State Auditor General under the World Bank-funded Public Sector Reform and Development Project. The overall objective of this project is to ensure good governance through the promotion of accountability and transparency in the utilization of public financial and human resources.

The main objectives of the project include: assisting the State address the weaknesses in its external audit functions so as to provide assurance that adequate controls and risk management practices are in place; and building the capacity of auditors, and other relevant officers in the State (including members of the Public Accounts Committee, Audit Committee and Audit Implementation Committees in MDAs) on modern auditing techniques, financial controls and budget monitoring.

This project will be managed by Cowater’s Public Financial Management and Accountability Group, a Cowater division recognized for its work to strengthen Supreme Audit Institutions and build public sector audit capacity worldwide.
