Based out of Cowater’s Municipal Services and Enterprise Group (MSE), Mr. Unheim focuses on the management and implementation of projects and analytical assignments focused on resolving complex governance challenges, building public sector institutional capacity at the central and sub-national levels, and promoting economic development. Amongst other responsibilities, Mr. Unheim is currently serving as Canadian Project Coordinator of a large-scale CIDA-financed anti-corruption project in Indonesia, and as Researcher on a CIDA/AusAID social service delivery project in Pakistan. Prior to joining MSE, he worked for over three years (2007-2010) with the firm’s business development group. In addition to his work with Cowater, Mr. Unheim has worked as a research consultant and policy analyst for IDRC, FOCAL and the Government of Canada. He can work effectively and independently both in French and in a variety of cultural contexts, as evidenced by his field experience in South and Southeast Asia, Tunisia, Congo-Brazzaville, and Senegal.
Mr. Unheim’s experience as an international development professional is reinforced by master’s degrees in related fields from the London School of Economics and Ottawa’s Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, and an undergraduate degree in economics and political science from McGill University. On a related note, Mr. Unheim has also authored or provided research and editorial assistance on publications related to water sector governance, monitoring and evaluation, diasporas, and global financial flows.
