Cowater to implement USD 25M Water Smart Meter Revenue Management Project with the Barbados Water Authority
Cowater International Inc., in association with Sogema Technologies Inc., with support from the Canadian Commercial Corporation, has been selected by the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) to assist with improving the efficiency of BWA’s revenue management. The Cowater and Sogema-led components total USD 24.7 million and will focus on:
- bringing BWA’s numerous management information systems (MIS) under a single integrated umbrella, allowing the BWA to operate more efficiently and transparently;
- increasing the efficiency of BWA’s revenue and financial management through the implementation of new Customer Information and Financial Information Systems;
- more efficient planning and management of BWA’s operations through a new Workload Management System (WMS) and the integrated MIS; and,
- associated business process reengineering and change management support.
Part of a larger USD 58M initiative, the overall program also includes the aquisition and installation of 98,800 household water Smart Meters. This important, country-wide program will support improvements to overall customer service through more accurate water bills, faster response times, improved client record management, increased fairness among consumers, earlier identification of leaks, replacement of broken water meters, improved transparency, and ultimately increased consumer confidence in the BWA. These improvements will contribute towards an increased willingness to pay for water supplied by the BWA amongst household and commercial customers.
