Aus4Equality|GREAT program officially kicks off in Lao Cai Province, Vietnam News

Following the successful launch in Son La province in late July, the Aus4Equalily|GREAT Program officially kicked off in Lao Cai City, Vietnam, on 21st August 2018.

Program partners will include a diverse range of actors, such as private organizations, non-government stakeholders and state institutions in the agriculture and tourism sectors. These partners will help improve the policy environment and stimulate inclusive and equitable growth in the region. In Lao Cai province alone, it is expected that the Program will assist some 20,000 self-employed women to boost their incomes and create approximately 2,000 jobs for women to drive economic growth in the province.

The Aus4equality Gender Responsive Equitable Agriculture and Tourism (GREAT) Program is an AUD33.7 million investment from the Australian Government in inclusive market systems development in Vietnam. The governing bodies of the Program are Provincial People’s Committees of Son La and Lao Cai. Cowater will implement the Program from 2017 to 2021 with the aim of empowering local women, promoting inclusive business partnerships and improving sector governance and policy.
