Cowater Selected to Strengthen Public Sector Auditing in Afghanistan
Cowater is pleased to announce it has been selected by the Government of Afghanistan to manage and implement a USD 4.9 million dollar contract under the Second Public Financial Management Reform Project. The main objective of the assignment is to support the Supreme Audit Office of Afghanistan’s (SAO) audit operations and to develop capacity in compliance audit and financial statement audit. The project is set to run for three years and will support the SAO to develop a comprehensive auditing manual that will strengthen audit methodology for all SAO ministries and upgrade compliance audit methodology to INTOSAI standards. This methodology will be applied to a significant share of government operations over the life of the project. This project will be managed by Cowater’s Public Financial Management and Accountability Group, a Cowater division recognized for its work to strengthen Supreme Audit Institutions and build public sector audit capacity worldwide.
