Girls’ Education

Investing in girls’ education can transform communities and economies, and help reduce inequality. Through our education programs, we aim to break down socio-economic and gender-based barriers that directly affect girls’ access to quality education. These include barriers such as the direct and indirect costs of education, distance to learning facilities, poor access to water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities, a lack of access to menstrual hygiene management (MHM), child marriage, and teenage pregnancy. Cowater International’s programs also focus on improving the quality of education, including promoting gender-responsive pedagogy, to improve learning outcomes such as retention and completion, and fostering holistic skills development in relevant areas in preparation for productive work.
