Sub-Saharan Africa - Mali

2019- | GiZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) | EUR 142,000

Cowater implemented this € 142 000 project in 2018 which supported the Ministry of Mines of Mali to apply the African Mining Vision. The objective of this project was to improve the control of taxes and Extractive Industries in Mali, through training adapted to the needs of the oversight institutions, in order to better assess the taxable bases of each mining company. In a context where mining companies are subject to about twenty taxes, the project focused on taxes with the highest income potential and which are most dependent on reporting by the private sector.
