Sub-Saharan Africa - Nigeria

2011-2014 | Global Affairs Canada | CAD 4.2M

This three-year project aimed to implement a new Taxpayers’ Registration system for the purpose of centrally assigning Unique Taxpayer Identification Numbers across Nigeria. A Unique Taxpayer Identification Numbering (UTIN) system provides a unique identifier to taxpayers that shall be used for all tax administration purposes and apply across all taxes. The UTIN implementation was completed in three main phases; (1) the Implementation of the SIGTAS Integrated Tax Administration System, (2) the implementation of core registration of the new system, (3) and the pilot phase of the new system. Finally, to ensure the effectiveness of the system, the architecture was designed to tolerate outages in connectivity.
