South and South-East Asia - Indonesia
To stimulate growth in investment activities between Canada and Indonesia, Cowater provided expert assistance to Indonesia’s Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) through the placement of a Canadian Industrial and Business Investment Advisor in Jakarta. Working with an Indonesian counterpart who had direct interest in Canadian investments, and supported professionally from Cowater’s head office, the Advisor’s role was to initiate and coordinate the interests of Indonesian investors to form joint ventures or other cooperative arrangements with Canadian industrialists. Business opportunities were identified and analyzed for their investment potential, brought to the attention of potential Canadian/Indonesian investors, and assistance was provided in any subsequent follow-up or negotiations. The project provided for feasibility studies to be carried out for analyzing special investment opportunities. Data banks of information covering Indonesian companies interested in having a Canadian partner as well as Canadian companies interested in investing abroad were maintained by the staff in Indonesia and Canada.
