Latin America and Caribbean - Haiti
The “Initial Training and Professional Development of Leadership in Haiti’s National Police Force (FIPCA-PNH)” project was undertaken with the financial support of the Government of Canada provided through Global Affairs Canada (GAC). The initiative aims to improve public safety in Haiti through the development of a healthier social and economic framework for democratic life and human rights. The project’s primary aim is: (1) to define and implement an organizational structure for the academy; (2) to support the development of training programs; (3) to facilitate the training of current and future leadership; and (4) to provide the academy with temporary facilities until such time as the permanent facilities on the Ganthier site are ready. The mandate given to Cowater is part of Canada’s commitment to providing the government of Haiti with a professional and recognized national police academy. The advisory support given by Cowater to academy personnel in carrying out their work contributes to developing their skills, with respect to both teaching and management.
