Cowater International (formerly Transtec) is performing this monitoring function on behalf of FCDO, to provide information for assessing the effective delivery of projects and to support the evidence base for identifying which approaches work, and which do not, in this type of context. FCDO is using the information gathered through this contract to improve the understanding of implementing partners’ activities and performance including monitoring. FCDO defines project monitoring as ‘tracking progress towards targets – in real time – to allow for corrective action to be taken’.
