North Western Integrated Community Development Programme Phase II (Incorporating the Food Security for Pastoralists Programme)

This project, implemented by Cowater International (formerly Transtec), provided advice and technical support to Somaliland in sustainable agriculture and livestock improvement. This was done in partnership with the private sector and through innovative value-chain reforms. An emphasis was placed on developing a replicable framework for sustainable food security, community-based social services and economic growth through increased livestock and cash crop production, and value-added production. This project provided technical and institutional assistance to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoAgr), provided technical assistance and guidance with the mobilisation and capacity building of target communitiesc, provided participatory planning and Monitoring and Evaluation, and supported MoAgr district agricultural extension officers in the regions of Awdal and Wooqoyi-Galbeed.
