Policy Leadership and Advocacy for Gender Equality (PLAGE) – Phase 2

South and South-East Asia - Bangladesh

2004-2112 | Global Affairs Canada | CAD 10M

Phase two of the “Policy Leadership and Advocacy for Gender Equality (PLAGE)” project was an eight-year, CAD 10M initiative undertaken with the financial support of the Government of Canada provided through Global Affairs Canada (GAC). The initiative built on the successes of phase one to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MOWCA) and implement its new mandate. The project additionally built and strengthened alliances with key oversight and sectoral ministries; strengthened collaboration between the Government of Bangladesh and civil society, particularly in terms of policy dialogue; improved donor coordination, especially around the introduction of a program-based approach to gender equality and gender mainstreaming; strengthened the capacity of MOWCA to contribute to gender mainstreaming at the local government level; and enhanced the government’s capacity and civil society to make strategic use of information, communication, and research.
