Post-Project Evaluations of the United Nations Democracy Fund

Global - Global

2010-2016 | UNDEF | USD 5.3 M

UNDEF was established by the UN Secretary-General in 2005 as a United Nations General Trust Fund to support democratisation efforts around the world. UNDEF supports projects that strengthen the voice of civil society, promote human rights, and encourage the participation of all groups in democratic processes. This project, conducted by Cowater International (formerly Transtec), aimed to undertake in-depth evaluations of United Nations Democracy Fund projects to inform, develop and refine further UNDEF’s United Nations General Trust Fund strategic and funding priorities. The evaluations covered the UNDEF projects in the areas of: community activism; rule of law and human rights; tools for knowledge; women’s empowerment; youth engagement; media and freedom of information; and strengthening civil society capacity for interactions with government.
