The “Renforcement Économique des Femmes de la Filière Arganière au Maroc (REFAM) ” project is undertaken with the financial support of the Government of Canada provided through Global Affairs Canada (GAC), in partnership with the Agence Nationale de Développement des Zones Oasiennes et l’Arganier. The initiative aims to contribute to women’s economic autonomy in the Argan sector by professionalizing the sector and developing new markets and marketing strategies. The project supports this sector, and more specifically female land rights holders, to participate in cooperatives, expand their contribution to the economy and their knowledge of the sector markets opportunities, and create awareness. The project interventions concern: (1) diminishing gender-specific barriers to women becoming entrepreneurs; (2) better institutionalized capacity for the Argan sector to promote women’s interests; and (3) better access for women working in this sector to the labor market.
