Schools Reconstruction in Pakistan

South and South-East Asia - Pakistan

2011-2013 | Global Affairs Canada | CAD 16M

This two-year project funded by Global Affairs Canada supported the efforts of the Government of Pakistan to rebuild schools, including water supplies and sanitation, in communities affected by the 2005 earthquake by preparing architectural, mechanical and electrical design drawings and specifications, and construction of 42 schools in the Muzaffarabad District of AJK in Pakistan. The key result was to restore access to education and educational resources for girls and boys in the communities where Global Affairs Canada was rebuilding schools. The outcome was that primary and secondary students now attend school in permanent structures that are built using seismic resistant construction techniques and with access to improved water and appropriate sanitation facilities.
