Social Gender Integration Fund (SGIF) Review

South and South-East Asia - Indonesia

1996-2000 | Global Affairs Canada | CAD 38,000

The “Social Gender Integration Fund (SGIF) Review” project was a four-year, CAD 38,000 initiative (1996-2000) undertaken with the financial support of the Government of Canada provided through Global Affairs Canada (GAC). The initiative supported and enhanced the agency’s work, ensuring that gender equality considerations are effectively integrated within the Indonesian development process; while simultaneously responding to local gender equality initiatives that are not addressed through other programs and projects implemented by the agency. The project additionally strengthened the capacity of Indonesian organizations and institutions to advocate for, influence and participate in government responsiveness to social/gender equality issues. The initiative assessed the achievement of results, identified lessons learned, and provided recommendations to facilitate the planning of future programming to broaden the knowledge base on gender funds for the agency.
