Through it’s implementation of the Domestic Tax Reform Poject, Cowater assisted the Government of Lebanon in the modernization of the tax administration department through the development and implementation of a modern tax administration system, the re-engineering of the main business processes related to revenue administration, and the setting up of a tax policy unit to oversee the tax reform. The project included the following activities: transfer of know-how and resource improvement at the Ministry of Finance; providing specialised staff training to maintain the system; and raising public awareness by setting up a communication strategy.
