KONEKSI is Australia’s flagship program in the knowledge and innovation sector in Indonesia. It supports partnerships between Australian and Indonesian organisations for inclusive and sustainable policy and technology. The goal of KONEKSI is to contribute to an enduring relationship between Indonesia and Australia that advances mutual interest and supports Indonesia’s inclusive and sustainable development. It enhances the use of knowledge-based solutions for inclusive and sustainable policies and technologies and focuses on equitable knowledge partnerships and leveraging local knowledge to address socio-economic challenges.
KONEKSI’s approach is to act as a catalyst for change by fostering and strengthening organisational partnerships, building partner capacities including GEDSI, and supporting an enabling environment for Indonesia’s knowledge and innovation ecosystem, guided by principles of mutual interest, transparency, accountability, GEDSI-responsiveness, problem-solving, and collaborative fit-for-purpose.
KONEKSI’s key activities are anchored in its four pillars: providing collaborative research grants to Indonesian and Australian research and educational institutions, providing technical assistance to address capacity gaps and systemic constraints for production and dissemination of knowledge, knowledge dissemination and management, and promoting networking and coalition building. To date, KONEKSI has facilitated collaborative research grants on environment and climate change; digital transformation in health, energy, and food security; electric vehicles; bioeconomy/marine biodiversity; and just energy transition.
