The overall goal of the project is to support the countries of Central Asia in the protection and sustainable use of groundwater resources by enhancing the scientific understanding, management, cooperation and governance of transboundary aquifers. This will ultimately improve water security and climate resilience through peaceful and effective cooperation on shared groundwater resources within Central Asia, contributing to sustainable development. The project is structured along four indicative outcomes: Awareness and capacity development; Policies, laws, institutions and governance; Sustainable Groundwater monitoring and state-of-the art technologies; and Knowledge sharing and coordination.
