Strengthening Ethics, Integrity and Green Governance (SEIGG) in South Africa
Sub-Saharan Africa
Strengthening Ethics, Integrity and Green Governance (SEIGG) is a five-year initiative funded by Global Affairs Canada to support accountable, ethical, and inclusive governance across all levels of South Africa’s public service in the national, provincial and municipal spheres. Implemented by Cowater International, SEIGG builds on the successes of the Strengthening Ethics and Integrity Project (SEIP) project, which established key anti-corruption mechanisms supported the establishment and structure the Public Administration Ethics, Integrity, and Disciplinary Technical Assistance Unit (PAEIDTAU) within the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA), reinforcing ethics functions across national and provincial levels with strategic support, practical guidance and adapted trainings to multiple departments and public service employees. SEIGG aims to strengthen accountability, efficiency, and transparency in public administration through technical assistance and capacity building at national, provincial, and municipal levels. It will also strengthen public procurement accountability, particularly in clean energy and climate sectors, while supporting the implementation of the Public Procurement Act to advance inclusive, gender-responsive, and green governance.
