Support for a Professional and Inclusive Police Force in Haiti Project (APPI)

The Support for a Professional and Inclusive Police Force in Haiti Project (APPI), $12.5M initiative funded by Global Affairs Canada, aiming to strengthen the capacity of the Haiti National Police (HNP) to maintain order in a precarious security environment, and ultimately to support the Haiti National Police in improving its services and the protection of the Haitian population, including women and marginalized groups.

APPI will also contribute to the overall objective of the HNP’s Strategic Development Plan by: 1) improving the capacity of the Haiti National Police’s General Inspectorate in the fight against corruption and the defense of human rights, including gender equality; 2) improving and modernizing the management of the Haiti National Police’s human and material resources in order to optimize its efficiency and make the profession more attractive for new recruits; and 3) institutionalizing gender equality within the Haiti National Police and in all of its activities.
