OTTAWA, November 29, 2023 – Cowater International (Cowater) and Finnish Consulting Group (FCG) are pleased to announce that they have completed a deal in which Cowater has acquired FCG’s international development consultancy arm, effective November 30, 2023. FCG’s international development unit is a dynamic and highly diversified management consultancy working with bilateral and multilateral donors including the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, the European Union, New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Asian Development Bank, KfW, the World Bank and others.

This acquisition combines Cowater’s expertise and large portfolio of projects, programs and facilities with those of FCG, leading to a broader and highly complementary technical offering, geographic coverage, and client base.

For FCG, this sale will enable the company to focus on its key objectives – designing and delivering innovative and sustainable solutions within the Finnish marketplace. “FCG will now focus on the Finnish market and support the public and private sectors in building a more sustainable society. This is a big strategic change for us, and divesting the development consulting business is one clear step in making this change a reality,” says Tommi Kajasoja, CEO of FCG.“Our development consulting business has found a good home and can now grow as part of an organization that is fully focused on this sector”.
