In line with our development and security efforts, Cowater International supports civilian actions aimed at reforming and strengthening the effectiveness and external accountability of security institutions, while respecting democratic values, oversight roles and human rights.
We aim to foster citizens’ participation in security reform, promote the accountability of security forces towards citizens, and reform and build capacity in the security sector in order to create the conditions for establishing and strengthening trusted, reformed and accountable security institutions. To achieve these goals, we work with governmental and non-governmental actors at local, regional and national levels.
