Technical Assistance for the Implementation of the Support Programme to Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) Actions in the Areas of Peace and Security

This project, implemented by Cowater International (formerly Transtec), developed the capacity and efficiency of ECCAS in conflict prevention in order to strengthen peace, and to increase the authority of ECCAS and the involvement of Member States. Cowater International strengthened ECCAS’s capacity in conflict prevention and peace consolidation through political dialogue, mediation, political management of crisis, negotiation and implementation of peace agreements, peace promotion and causes of conflict reduction. The project designed technical assistance and expert missions to provide support and technical expertise in the areas of peace, conflict prevention, good governance, information gathering and analysis, and training and research and provided support in the development of an information and analysis centre at MARAC (methods, resources, expertise, research and implementation activities). Cowater’s project further strengthened the role of civil society in conflict prevention and providedsupport in the establishment of a conflict early warning system in the region while developing a mediation resource persons’ networks.
