The purpose of this project was to provide a significant expansion to Pakistan’s power generation capacity, to enable power distribution for urban areas and village/rural electrification. An objective of the project was also to provide irrigation water to approximately 60,000 hectares of rain-fed, arid lands, to enable settlement and economic growth.
