Supporting Pastoralism and Agriculture in Recurrent and Protracted Crises (SPARC)

Sub-Saharan Africa - Sub-Saharan Africa

2019-2025 | FCDO | GBP 12.6 M

Cowater is the lead managing contractor behind an international consortium for the delivery of this large-scale, multi-country action research initiative focused on supporting livelihoods in the world’s most vulnerable and conflict affected countries. Key drivers of both crisis and poverty in Africa are climate change and the impact it is having on livelihoods based on natural resources – notably water and land. In this context, SPARC is addressing knowledge gaps and generating evidence to help poor and vulnerable people cope with crises and meet their basic needs. Through research, SPARC will support learning and knowledge sharing across FCDO, between development and humanitarian programmes, NGOs and government decision-makers to help reduce conflict and promote resilience for people affected by protracted crises in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East.
