Sustainable ecosystems and the responsible management of natural resources are required for human wellbeing and economic growth. Cowater International’s integrated approach to natural resource management adapts to diverse contexts, fosters inclusive governance, and ensures equitable access to resources. Specifically, we develop national online systems for environmental impact assessments that streamline licensing processes while enabling greater citizen participation; conduct strategic environmental assessments to identify sustainable approaches to land use; and support national governments in designing effective programmes for the use of climate finance. By providing support to natural resource planning and policymaking that is “climate smart”; creating and leveraging opportunities for advocacy and engagement; promoting gender-mainstreaming in national environment and climate planning; and conducting infrastructure assessments, we strive to contribute to resilient long-term development.
