The Budget Systems Modernisation (MSB) Project in Algeria is currently in the second phase of development . This phase follows on the heels of a pilot project (MSB 1), finished in February 2007. Phase 2 of the project aims to facilitate strategic choices using better quality information and analysis, improve public expenditure forecasting and planning capacity, make manager and institutions in charge of managing public funds more responsible, strengthen monitoring and evaluation of budget execution and the effectiveness of policy implementation, facilitate control over public expenditures, and improve budget transparency in order to make economic and social policy choices clearer.
