Consultancy Services to Support Audit Operations and Capacity Development Within the Supreme Audit Office

Cowater supported the Supreme Audit Office of Afghanistan’s operations and developed capacity in compliance and financial audit through this three-year USD 4.9 million, World Bank funded project (2013-2016). The project also supported the sustainability of audit practices in Afghanistan through the development of compliance audit and financial statement audit tools and a comprehensive compliance audit manual. The project also undertook the development of audit methodologies aligned to International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions standards for all Supreme Audit Office departments. This methodology was applied to a significant share of government operations over the life of the project, helping to ensure more accountable and effective oversight of Government of Afghanistan finances and spending.
