South and South-East Asia - India
The objective of this Cowater USD 500,000 project implemented in India was to improve the supply of professionally accredited public sector auditors in South Asia by supporting a group of 16 auditors from AGAOA member states (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) through the process of receiving a Certified Internal Audit (CIA) and/or Certified Government Accounting Practitioner (CGAP) certification. Cowater’s team, in partnership with India’s Institute of Internal Auditors and Institute of Government Accounts and Finance, delivered training and coaching to prepare these participants for the CIA and CGAP examinations, of which 13 candidates successfully received a professional certification. As a result, these auditors from across South Asia can now apply international standards in their work and are better positioned to hold their governments accountable.
