Cowater International’s (formerly Transtec) Project Management Unit for the support to the implementation of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) Project is assisting the AFD to operationalize the Paris Agreement (COP21) by contributing to the implementation of NDCs in various beneficiary countries. A key focus of the project is supporting the incorporation of NDCs into policy in beneficiary countries, with the development of climate change vulnerability profiles and action plans. Another key project area is support given to the the immediate implementation of NDC through the financing of feasibility studies. Support is also given to countries to identify financing involving the AFD or jointly with the Green Climate Fund. Cowater International is supporting the AFD’s country engagement by conducting identification of needs and undertaking the negotiation of protocols with beneficiary countries and contracting services providers by launching and managing (on behalf of the AFD) a major framework agreement to conduct technical advisory missions on climate adaptation, including designing and procuring the programming and ensuring their quality control and carrying out evaluations of results. The project works in: Cameroon, Comoros, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ghana, Guinea, Madagascar, Mauritius, Niger, Tunisia, Senegal, and with the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
